QF Family Celebrates National Day Together
Community Services invited members of the Qatar Foundation (QF) community and their families to join them for an afternoon of activities on 17 December, as part of QF’s celebrations for Qatar National Day 2013.
Events were focused around Pitch 2 at the Community and Recreation Center and began with a ribbon cutting ceremony, a children’s parade, speeches, and a cultural show.
Celebrations continued with attendees given the chance to experience henna, traditional food, pony rides, face painting, as well as ceramic painting.
In a separate event within Nasr Tower, West Bay, on the same day, Sidra Medical and Research Center hosted demonstrations with falcons, traditional demonstrations, national songs, plus bisht and agal tailoring. A themed photography area showcased images from Qatar, and a small majlis was set up to include traditional games.
On 16 December, Msheireb Properties gathered its workforce at its Downtown Doha site where a giant Qatari flag was unfurled and outstanding employees were honored.
Other activities taking place ahead of Qatar National Day included Qatar National Library welcoming students from Aspire Academy to view their Heritage Collection. Vodafone Qatar’s ladies sales team, Al Johara, launched a competition across five schools under the theme ‘Qatari & Proud’ to reward those students and their parents who produced the most inspiring and creative works of arts for the occasion.
On 18 December, Qatar Philharmonic Orchestra gave an evening performance at Sheraton Park under a brilliant fireworks display.
